The Compassionate Heart
Practices for the Clinician
Tue 9/10 to Thu 9/12, 2019
12 Category 1 CEU’s – Approved by NH-NASW #3281
Have you ever thought, “I am such a caring clinician, but I’m feeling so tired and run down”? Or perhaps life has been hard, so you shut down in an effort to protect yourself. Or do you sometimes have a sense of overwhelm or helplessness in working with your clients? Maybe you just feel that you and your clients would benefit from learning some effective compassion skills.
Join us for three days to enliven your compassionate heart, mind and body!
Enhance self-compassion and compassion for your clients, and improve your personal and therapeutic relationships. Learn compassion skills that you can teach your clients. We will explore compassion practices from both eastern philosophical and western psychological perspectives. These practices will be mindful, meditative, somatic, and energetic and will include “Qi-fusion” (a synthesis of qi-gong, yoga, meditation and more).
Currently the same neuroscience that confirmed the efficacy of mindfulness is demonstrating the power of compassion practices. A healthy compassionate heart increases resourcefulness, resiliency and happiness.
“Self-compassion allows us to sustain compassion for others.” – Kristin Neff, Ph. D.
“Here’s the bottom line: compassion creates a healthy mind.” – Dan Siegel, MD

Reflections from past participants:
“Susan has a magical ability to bring a group of strangers together as a community within the first few minutes of the gathering period. She was clear, open, fun and able to lead the group with knowledge of techniques and gentle loving humor”.
S. G., Pediatric Nurse
“there are not words for the soul healing blessing that was this time on Star Island. I feel held, loved, nourished, understood. I feel like I know myself and my body so much better now. Thank you.”
K. S., Chaplain
“Susan brought a warm, engaging energy to all her work. Her smile and her attention to all of us created a safe space. The workbook we had was well designed and very useful.”
